Paying for this website

First, let me make it clear that at this point in time, I have no intention of creating a subscribers-only part of this website. Every part will remain free for everyone that cares to come and browse. However, She Who Must Be Obeyed does expect me to spend at least some of my time contributing dollars to the family budget. Until recently, my contribution was building The House of Steel, but sooner or later, a return to normalcy (if that's a valid concept) will occur.

The normalcy I would like to occur is one where I earn enough to stay home, write stuff and grow vegetables. The alternative is for me to travel to Hobart every day and train computer users, provide computer consultancy etc. But that will leave me far less time for writing than I have now. Right now, I am renovating our old cottage for sale, but the money coffers are getting awful low. Bluntly, this website is in danger of disappearing until the sale of the cottage happens.

So, if you want my writing to continue and over time increase in volume (and hopefully quality), you are urged to encourage me by making a voluntary payment. Let's say $US10 per year. In return you may (no promises) receive the following:

One of my favourite web sites is DOMAI. It is the only place on the web where I have found the most delightful tasteful nude photos of beautiful girls. The Git gets paid if you subscribe after clicking the link on the ensuing page. Note that clicking the link does not take you to an in-your-face subscription rant -- just the usual DOMAI Beauty of the Day page. If you are offended by nudity, don't click the link, but I do suggest some sort of remedial action -- perhaps suicide?

I have also decided to publish at least one book electronically to be paid for on an honour basis -- somewhat along the lines of shareware. That book will be about owner building and hopefully be of practical use to anyone who wants to follow in my footsteps and save a bundle building their own home. And if that is a success, I will follow up with a book about small-scale organic market gardening (already partially written) with examples from people I know doing this successfully here in Tasmania. Another book I have an itch to write will be about small business computing.

Should any of these books make into paper versions, subscribers will be entitled to a reasonable discount and a hand-written inscription by the author.

Acceptable payment methods include, but are not restricted to:

Note that foreign currency cheques and money orders cost a lot to convert to Australian currency. Why the banks want to make overseas transactions so expensive, I have no idea. Harass them about this, not me please. If you have something else of value to trade, email me and I will let you know if it's acceptable.

Unacceptable payment methods include, but are not restricted to:

Whatever payment method you use, please email me to let me know so that my undying gratitude starts immediately.
