Free of Harmful, or Potentially Harmful Chemicals -- but Watch Out for the
Ideas! Some of them are Contagious!
A journal of sorts to record Jonathan Sturm's (and others') thoughts and observations on things worth thinking about. Feedback welcome, but be aware that unless you prominently say you want your communication kept private, I may publish it. |

Yesterday, Malcolm at Sony phoned to tell me the monitor had been couriered from Melbourne last Friday and should be available from Integrated Components at Moonah. The Git left the phone call to Integrated until today. The message was the usual one from the receptionist at Integrated: "Did I phone you?"
Why would anyone in their right minds buy anything from Sony when, not only do their agents never make courtesy calls, even when the delay on their work is months, but respond to enquiries with: "Did I phone you?"
Here's a list of a few brands The Git will definitely not be buying in the future: Jands Electronics, Shure, Rane, JBL, Soundcraft, Spirit, DBX, Crown, Kenwood, and of course Sony. Hopefully, none of the other Sony equipment at The House of Steel will break down in the future.

Some years ago, the magazine Leatherwood, Tasmania's Journal of Discovery sadly became unviable despite winning awards for photographic and journalistic excellence. The great news is that it's back and online.
Welcome aboard. Leatherwood Online, Tasmania's Journal of Discovery is dedicated to sharing the unique lifestyle of this smart, clean, green island.
We sit between Australia and Antarctica.
Tasmania is right in the path of the Roaring Forties -- a swathe of wind that brings dramatic weather, including lots of rain [from 3.6m in the west to about 600mm in the east], often combined with gales. However, rugged western mountains ranges soon temper the weather's forces to create a balmy temperate climate to the east.
It all makes for a robust, no-nonsense people, with a fairly warped sense of humour.
They also happen to very talented in numerous creative ways, and we will be featuring these skills in issues to come.
Thought for the day:
Really big people are, above everything else, courteous, considerate and generous -- not just to some people in some circumstances -- but to everyone all the time.
