Jonathan Sturm (alias The Pompous Git) lives at Franklin in the Huon Valley of Southern Tasmania, Australia. In recent times, he has been an owner-builder, working on his and his wife's dream home, a part-time student at the University of Tasmania (history and philosophy) and works part-time for the Tasmanian Government. In times now long past, he was an organic market gardener, but these days contents himself with a home vegetable garden. He is the author of the popular book, Complete Organic Gardening, and has written computer, lifestyle and gardening articles for several publications. Here's some more of his writing. 

Having finished The House of Steel, The Pompous Git decided to get stuck into something else he didn't know very much about -- climate change. Dr David E. Wojick hosts a fascinating debate on climate here and has a website where I found some delightful short pieces entitled Is Mathematics Part of Science? and Chaos Management and the Dynamics of Information. I have also included a downloadable Rich Text File of David's paper: The UN IPCC's Artful Bias -- Glaring Omissions, False Confidence, and Misleading Statistics in the Summary for Policymakers on this site.

When quotes for building the 140 square metre (1500 square foot) House of Steel came in at double what was expected, Jonathan figured that the money saved by owner-building was essentially tax-free. Nor did he need to borrow all that money.

The Linux Adventure evolved into a Daily Diatribe by a Pompous Git. The latest update of The Diatribe is here, though it's no longer daily.  Like other members of the notorious group known to the police as The DayNotes Gang, The Git discusses  things computerish, philosophical, humorous and trivial.

Jonathan is married to Marguerite Porte who is a gifted photographer and a wonderful wife.
